• A September To Remember

Wow, I cannot believe it is September already.  Where has this year gone?

La Galeria Periana has displayed some fantastic artwork and sculptures from some talented local individuals, who are lovely genuine and inspirational individuals. It´s always hard trying to display something that many people believe they have no interest in. Many visitors come through our doors who are new to art and in a short while are  spellbound by the magic that La Galeria offers.  You just have to open your eyes and mind to see not only the beauty of art but the magic that this image brings along the way!

You must have heard of the saying “Don´t tell people your dreams, show them” – well this is just what these magnificent artists do.  If you haven´t experienced La Galeria then to do so is a MUST.  Come and see for yourself and experience the feeling of being mesmerised by the spectacular works.

We have some more really exciting news. For the first time La Galeria is hosting a play ” Shirley Valentine.”

On the 15th September  live theatre comes to the campo with Valerie Molyneux performing this one woman performance. Most of us will know how the plot unveils. But just in case you don’t……

A middle-aged, working class Liverpool housewife, who is trapped in a world of domesticity needs a change in her life before she has yet another conversation with the walls. Wondering what has happened to her youth and feeling trapped, in a loveless marriage Shirley is having a mid-life crisis. While she is preparing an evening meal of egg and chips for her emotionally distant husband her best friend offers to pay for a trip-for-two to Greece. Without hesitation she packs her bags, leaves a note on the cupboard door in the kitchen and heads for a fortnight of rest and relaxation.

In Greece after being ditched by her friend and finding herself alone she reflects on everything about her life in England and her unfulfilled dreams. In Greece she finds so much happiness  and when the vacation is over she questions whether to return. She finds her way back to the hotel where she had been staying to ask for a job.  She wants to live a newly self-confident life in which she is at last true to herself. Does she return to her mundane life????

We are so pleased to welcome the lovely Valerie  who plays the role of Shirley in this one woman play by Willy Russell.

We have a competition to win 2 tickets to see this great play here at La Galeria. See our pinned post on Facebook in order to be in with a chance of winning.

Let´s make this a September to remember!
